2012-2017 Toyota Prius V HD Rear Lift Springs- IN-STOCK AND READY-TO-SHIP! (Typically ships within 24-48 business hours.)
Over the years we received a lot of requests for a rear lift spring that would also help combat the rear squatting associated with carrying additional cargo weight. Several years back we designed a spring that did exactly that, but the downside was that it rode like a Sherman Tank when the car was empty. After this result we shifted focus to other projects, while still tinkering here and there with spring adjustments as time allowed. Simply put there is no way to have a spring handle EXCESSIVE additional cargo weight AND also provide a smooth ride unloaded. (Think about a 3/4 ton pickup truck that rides horribly with nothing but a dozen eggs and a 36 pack of toilet paper in the back seat but throw 2,000 lbs of bricks in the bed and it rides like a Cadillac.) Over the past 2 years we made significant improvements to the spring design and finally found the sweet spot for additional carrying capacity while also improving the unloaded ride quality. While other companies might make empty promises of several hundred pounds of additional carrying capacity and a buttery smooth unloaded ride, our goal is to outfit your Prius to the best of our ability while actually being able to follow through on our promises. These springs were built with a target additional hitch weight of 200lbs (ie 2 e-bikes plus a swing out bike carrier, or e-bike and bike carrier, loaded cargo box, etc.) Keep in mind this number increases the further forward the weight is placed inside the vehicle. Unloaded, these springs ride smoother than stock springs and lift spacers due to the custom coil and spring length which places the rear suspension in a more progressive position in the suspension cycle. Unloaded ride height tends to be just slightly higher than our 1.5" rear spacers and stock springs and provides approximately 1.75"-2" over stock height while unloaded (.25"-.50" more than stock springs + rear spacers). If you don't plan on carrying any additional weight in your car the stock springs and spacers work just fine, however there really is no disadvantage to using the HD rear springs unloaded. So if you're looking for the best riding and most versatile setup, and cost isn't a factor we suggest going with the HD rear springs. HD rear lift springs are used IN PLACE of rear lift spacers, NOT in addition to rear lift spacers.*
